- CANalyzer Version 3.0 and higher may not be installed over older CANalyzer versions (2.5 or older). You can either delete the old CANalyzer version, rename the directory of the old CANalyzer installation or execute the new CANalyzer installation in a new directory.
- Software installation is identical for all of the operating systems Windows 98, NT, 2000 and XP. Windows 95 is only supported by CANalyzer < version 4.1, Windows 98 and ME only by CANalyzer < version 5.2. The usage of Windows 98 and ME is not recommended because of large deviations with cyclic sending of messages.
- For additional delivered option, in some cases it could be necessary to do further install steps. Please take a look to the install references in the manual concerning the respective option.
Proceed as follows to install the CANalyzer software:
- Insert the CANalyzer installation CD in a CD drive. A Run window appears in which you can start the software installation.
- If the Run window does not appear automatically in your computer configuration call the installation program SETUP.EXE from the CD's directory Application.
- Follow the instructions of the installation program.
You can perform a standard installation or a custom installation:
- In the standard installation the software is installed and preconfigured in the form you ordered (hardware platform, language version and bus type).
- In the custom installation you can select among the following for installation:
- Hardware interfaces for alternative available hardware platforms
- German or English language variant
- Sample configurations
How can I test if the installation is correct?
To test the CANalyzer software installation, the CAN hardware must be successfully installed.
1. Connect the two CAN ports of your CAN hardware using a cable that is terminated in a way that is appropriate to the bus type.
This cable is included with the hardware.
2. Load the CANMainDemo.cfg sample configuration in the Demo folder (\Demo_CAN_CN\CANMainDemo) and start it.
If the installation is successful, you will be able to observe CAN messages in the Trace window.
This functional test also confirms that the CAN hardware has been installed correctly.
